Kate Black-Regan - Performer
Kate Black-Regan is a Philadelphia-based performance artist, singer and poet. After receiving undergraduate degrees in Psychology and English from Rutgers University, she began acting in independent films and soon found herself on stage after clowning around for a coworker who happened to be a local Philly director. Since then she has worked with Applied Mechanics, Swim Pony Performing Arts, Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium, Renegade Classic Theatre and Luna Theater, among others. She is a resident performer with the newly reborn Transmissions Theatre (formerly Puppetyranny) and croons with local jazz infused/theatre doom band, Upholstery. Kate has written and performed two multidisciplinary one-woman pieces, For Every One in Four and Balance Cadence. Her art of expression is strongly rooted in feminism, healing and opening boundaries. Favorite roles with Transmissions Theatre include all of them. Most notably Felicia Hyde, a mad tardigrade-obsessed scientist with no thumbs. Also the eternally plastic-coated singing mermaid, Mae. And of course Rene Junot, the dead animal-loving, cave-dwelling, checkerboard shoes-wearing teen. And last but certainly not least, the cigarette-smoking, sultry sadist along the tracks, Juliette Antioch!
